Help Plant Fruit Trees This Summer BEFORE Tu B'Av  (Aug 9th)

A Rare Opportunity to Plant and Protect the Land!

.

Tu B’Av (15th of Av)  is one of the most meaningful days on the Jewish calendar — a time of joy, unity, renewal and blessing. It’s also the last halachic window to plant fruit trees before Rosh Hashanah, allowing them to count as Year One of orlah and saving nearly a year of work and cost.

.

This year, the need is urgent!

.

Every single day, farmers and communities from places like Efrat, Elazar, Bat Ayin, Tekoa, Shilo, Achya, Kochav Hashachar, Kedumim, Itamar, Elon Moreh, Bnei Netzarim, Neta, Shuva, Shokeda, Tkuma, the Jordan Valley — and many more are asking for help to plant fruit trees!

These brave families are ready to plant and protect even under threat, but can’t without your help!

Unplanted land is at risk of being lost — but a tree in the ground says: Am Yisrael is here to stay!

It takes A LOT to plant FRUIT trees!

  1. Find a suitable location and purchase it.
  2. Prepare the land by clearing away rocks and thorn bushes.
  3. Bring water, electric and other infrastructure to the site.
  4. Install a fence around the entire area to keep away the animals.
  5. Turn over, flatten and fertilize the soil.
  6. Install a computerized irrigation system.
  7. Strategically plan and carefully plant all the trees.
  8. Weed, water, fertilize, and prune them for 3 years (Orlah).
  9. AFTER 4 years we can finally redeem the fruits (Neta Revai).
  10. On the 7th year (Shmitta) no pruning or selling the produce.

Excerpt translated from a letter written by HaRav Hagaon Yaakov Ariel shlita , leading Posek on the Mitzvos of Agriculture in the Holy Land, author of dozens Halachic Seforim (books) on this subject, former Chief Rav of Ramat Gan and Rosh (directing head of) Machon Torah VeHa'aretz.

“...it is appropriate that everyone in the world partner with a farmer in Israel to fulfill all the mitzvot מצוות התלויות בארץ... and through this partnership HE KEEPS THESE MITZVOT AS WELL because the land belongs to us all...

I therefore bless the efforts of Zo Artzeinu’s Tree Planting Campaign”
